2025 revenue reaches RMB36.79 billion as the growth of electric vehicles creates new opportunities for the tire industry
ICN News, JAKARTA — Competition in the global tire industry is intensifying amid the growth of electric vehicles and rising demand for automotive components. One company seeking to strengthen its position in international markets is Sailun Group, a Chinese tire manufacturer with production facilities across several countries, including Indonesia.
In 2025, Sailun Group recorded operating revenue of RMB36.79 billion, an increase of 15.69% from RMB31.80 billion in 2024. However, net profit attributable to shareholders declined by 13.30% to RMB3.52 billion. The figures indicate that revenue growth has not yet translated into higher profits.
EXPANDING ITS INTERNATIONAL PRODUCTION NETWORK
According to information published on its official website, Sailun Group operates nine production bases across China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Mexico, and other locations, with three additional production facilities under construction. The company also operates four global research and development centres.
SAILUN products are marketed in more than 180 countries and regions. Its portfolio includes passenger car tires, commercial vehicle tires, and tires designed for industrial and heavy-equipment applications.
The presence of a production base in Indonesia is an important aspect of the company’s business development. Local manufacturing could support domestic market demand and strengthen supply networks. However, its impact on national production capacity, employment, and exports should be assessed using data specific to the Indonesian facility.
CAPITALISING ON ELECTRIC VEHICLE OPPORTUNITIES
The development of electric vehicles is creating new requirements for the tire industry. Vehicle weight associated with battery systems, electric motor torque, rolling resistance, road noise, and tread wear are among the factors that manufacturers must consider when developing tires.
Sailun has developed its EcoPoint³ technology, which the company says is designed to improve energy efficiency, wear resistance, and braking performance. The technology forms part of its efforts to develop products suited to the requirements of modern vehicles.
SAILUN has also appeared in product information concerning tires in size 235/55 R18 offered for the VinFast Limo Green. One product available in this size is the Sailun Atrezzo Elite 2. However, the availability of a replacement tire does not, by itself, establish that SAILUN is the factory-fitted tire brand on all Limo Green units.
Consequently, SAILUN’s electric vehicle market opportunities should be assessed beyond a single vehicle model. Its ability to meet automakers’ technical specifications, maintain product quality, and establish effective distribution networks will be important factors in competing for supply contracts.
OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES IN INDONESIA
Indonesia is a relevant market for the tire industry, supported by its automotive sector, logistics activities, passenger transportation, and mining and plantation industries, all of which require different types of tires.
For Sailun Group, its local production base and international marketing network could provide a foundation for business expansion. In mining, for example, heavy-equipment tires have different requirements from passenger car tires, particularly in terms of durability, load capacity, and operating conditions.
Nevertheless, expansion will take place amid competition from global and regional tire manufacturers. Competitive pricing must be supported by product quality, after-sales service, product availability, and compliance with applicable safety standards.
Electric vehicle growth could become an additional source of demand, but the scale of this opportunity will depend on vehicle sales, automakers’ supplier selection, and demand for replacement tires.
With its cross-border production network, investment in research and development, and presence in Indonesia, Sailun Group is a company worth watching in the tire industry. Its next challenge will be to translate production scale and revenue growth into sustainable profitability while strengthening its competitiveness in the Indonesian market.
