Caterpillar Inc. (commonly abbreviated as CAT) is an American company that designs, develops, engineers, manufactures, markets, and sells machinery, engines, financial products, and insurance to clients worldwide through a franchise network. The company is the largest manufacturer of construction equipment in the world. In 2018, Caterpillar ranked 65th on the Fortune 500 list and 238th on the Global Fortune 500 list. Caterpillar’s stock is one of the components of the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

The company began its history in 1925, when Holt Manufacturing Company merged with C. L. Best Tractor Company to form Caterpillar Tractor Company, headquartered in California. In 1986, the company was reorganized as a legal entity registered in Delaware under the name Caterpillar Inc. In January 2017, the company announced that it would relocate its headquarters from Peoria, Illinois, to Deerfield, Illinois, and canceled its 2015 plan to build an $800 million new headquarters complex in downtown Peoria.
The company also licenses and markets a range of apparel and boots products under the Cat/Caterpillar brand. Caterpillar machinery is easily recognizable by its distinctive “Caterpillar Yellow” paint and “CAT” logo.

PT Komatsu Indonesia
Komatsu Indonesia, as one of the global production bases of Komatsu, has a wide range of products, including fully integrated production facilities, from complete units to individual components. At its inception, Komatsu Indonesia was a joint venture between PT United Tractors (the distributor of Komatsu products in Indonesia) and Komatsu Ltd. of Japan. The establishment of Komatsu Indonesia was also influenced by the rapid growth of infrastructure development in Indonesia and United Tractors’ leadership in the construction equipment market at that time.
The company occupies an area of 20.26 hectares in the Cakung Cilincing (Cacing) industrial zone, with comprehensive and integrated manufacturing operations. This area includes a foundry, a hydraulic plant, a fabrication plant, and an assembly plant. In another area, the Cibitung plant spans 5.94 hectares and consists of a large scale fabrication plant and a hydraulic cylinder remanufacturing facility.

As an international scale industry with innovative products, Komatsu Indonesia not only manufactures complete units such as bulldozers, dump trucks, and hydraulic excavators, but also frames, steel castings, and related components that are supplied to Komatsu operations worldwide. In 2022, PT Komatsu Indonesia, together with its principals, introduced the following new products: the 20 ton economic class Hydraulic Excavator PC200-10M0CE, the 13 ton Excavator PC135F-10M0, the sixth-generation Komatsu Small Wheel Loader, the Komatsu HB3651, a 30 ton hybrid excavator, and the Komatsu PC125011R, an improved version of the 125 ton class excavator.

PT Hitachi Construction Machinery Indonesia
PT Hitachi Construction Machinery Indonesia (HCMI), located in Cibitung, Bekasi, is a joint venture company between Hitachi Construction Machinery Co. Ltd of Japan, Itochu Corporation of Japan, PT Murinda IronSteel, PT Anggaputra Dhananjaya, and Hitachi Construction Machinery Singapore Pte. Ltd. of Singapore. The company was established in May 1991 and has been operating since October of the same year. As a heavy equipment industry in Indonesia, PT HCMI occupies an area of 25 hectares in Bekasi and 20 hectares in Cibitung, West Java. The company has two plants with a total excavator production capacity of 5,500 units per year. The distributor of Hitachi heavy equipment products in Indonesia is Hexindo Adiperkasa. The main production of the Hitachi plant currently includes mediumclass hydraulic excavators of 10 ton, 20 ton, and 30 ton classes, as well as ultra large excavator components ranging from 45 to 800 tons. In addition, the plant also produces various engineering products, such as transformer tanks, dump bodies, and belt conveyors.
